Coogee Residences
Homes drawn from the Coogee cliffs.
A collection of three whole-floor apartments inspired by the cliffs of Coogee, designed to hold natural light, cross ventilation, and open views while keeping a measured sense of privacy. The building steps with the slope, following the land down toward the sea, and generous terraces and deep openings draw ocean light and air inside, so the coast becomes part of daily life rather than a view held at a distance.
Long horizontal bands of precast sandstone echo the natural lines of the Coogee cliffs, grounding the building in the heritage of the land while setting a considered example for the character of a growing suburb. Natural, honest materials are chosen to weather gracefully in a coastal climate, in keeping with BY SOMA’s belief that a home should be felt before it is seen.
